Christmas day in France

To prepare the Christmas day, we chose differents traditions from our partners. The pupils made the little draws from Estonia and they lived that, it was really funny for them.

They also produced the oranges with cloves from Hungary, there was a smell of Christmas in the class.

From german traditions, they cooked the quarkstollen with families and also the wesp nest. It was a real pleasure to discover this cakes and also to taste it, of course. They laughed a lot with the traditional story "Christmas goose Augusta".
For the Christmas market of the school, all productions of the children were exposed. It was a rellaly great success.

They had the pleasure to built the decorations from Estonia.

Now, the children look forward to do and post the cards for the happy new year.

Our international Christmas week at AWO-SpatzenHaus Neukalen

The children created this X-mas wish with many many bottom-tops.
Every year in December all children are excitedly looking forward to Christmas eve. Everywhere there is something secret and you can smell Christmas cakes and candy. So in our SpatzenHaus.

How did we prepare for the nicest time at the end of the year?

Having collected recipies and searched for traditions we sent our results via the Internet to our Comeniuspartners who, of course, did the same.

So we could read about traditions like the Christmas Buck in Estonia or sing songs from Hungary or try recipies from France. One day we did a lot of handycraft to show them to our parents and to sell them on a X-mas bazar.

We had a lovely booth at the Christmas market in Dargun. The parents helped us a lot to sell many of our beautiful handcrafts.

Some children baked X-mas cakes and made little houses of gingerbred. Other ones had lots of fun making e.g. brownies (Wichtelmännchen) or creating X-mas cards and X-mas crackers.

The schoolkids presented their poem at the townhall.
The X-max poem.

The Estonian dolls where really surprised how busy we were. They watched us packing the parcel going to France and they were with us when father Christmas visited our house. Finally we all together went to the post office to send the parcel to France and the X-mas cards to our friends in Hungary, Estonia and France.

Even the smallest create some nice stuff.
We pack our parcel for our friends in France.

Father X-mas visited us and our doll-friends from Estonia.
We had a lot of fun making the little X-mas dwarves.

This was a very special and exciting week for all of us.
We wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Yours,

Comenius day in the Star Castle kindergarten, Hungary

Comenius day in the Star Castle kindergarten, Hungary

On the Comenius day in our kindergartner children could choose from a wide range of programs. We prepared globes from papier mache, painted the continents and visualized our partner institutions then made their flags as well. Who was in a mood could play with memory cards and puzzle in which the flags should had been found. Kids enjoyed piecing together partner countries’ flags and searching for the appropriate memory cards’ pairs.
From each partner we have choosen a tale which the teachers played with puppets. After that children could draw or play the stories.
The selected tales were:
• The three little chicks - French folk tale,
• The third knot - Estonian fairy tale,
• The woodcutter's wish - German folk tale,
• The star-eyed shepherd - Hungarian folk tale.
The children spend Comenius day happily, played actively which contributed to their nursery lives.

Comenius nap a Csillagvár óvodában Magyarországon

Minden ország mesetárából kiválasztottunk 1-1 mesét, melyet elmeséltünk, elbáboztunk a gyerekek nagy örömére. Ezt követően lehetőséget biztosítottunk a hallott történet lerajzolására, dramatizálására.
Az alábbi mesék hangoztak el:
• A három kiscsibe – francia népmese,
• A harmadik csomó – Észt mese,
• A favágó kívánsága – német népmese,
• A csillagszemű juhász – magyar népmese.
A gyerekek jókedvűen, tevékenyen töltötték a Comenius napot, mely hozzájárult élményteli óvodai életükhöz.

International Comenius Meeting at Spatzenhaus Neukalen

From 24th to 28th September 16 guests from Hungary, Estonia and France met within the bounds of the Comeniusproject „European Values – Our Values“ at the AWO - SpatzenHaus Neukalen. They got a hearty welcome with a great programme by our children. While visiting our house everybody was enthusiastic about the super conditions our children have here to play and to learn. In our workshops they tried together with the children how the Freinet-principle works in practice. Also in the Kita FREIraum in Dargun our guests expressed how  impressed they where about the deep trust we obviously have in the children. This is one basic point of the Freinet concept.
Willi Voß, the mayor of Neukalen met our guests at the townhall and walked with
them through the town at the river Peene.
One high spot of this third international meeting was a visit at the Dargun monastery. In monks' clothes and a medieval surrounding we experienced a great evening.
While going by bogy from Dargun to Neukalen we did not only enjoy the idyllic nature but sang songs and had a lot of fun.
Our meetings to analyze the sofar work and to plan further steps took place in the new, modern rooms of the Peenecamp Neukalen.
The high spot in Neukalen was a big BBQ with the children of our house together with their families, the teachers  and other guests. Everybody was enthusiastic about the dance of the „funcies“ of the Neukalen Carneval Club.
Mister Schmidt, the manager of AWO-Sozialdienst Demmin gGmbH and initiator of our comenius-project, had intensive talks with many of the participants.
Bevor going back home with a lot of impressions and ideas, we showed our guests our capital Berlin.

These days in Neukalen have been a great success. Here we want to say THANK YOU to all the institutions and people who supported us so willingly.

                                                                                    THANK YOU :-)
